چکیده

Service rebalancing is a method for designing programs that adhere to the cli-ent/server model. Decisions about the division of labor between client and server are made dynamically at runtime rather than at design time. Service rebalancing may improve performance, because the division of eeort is based upon an evaluation of the current environment. Other beneets of service rebalancing include on-they updating of modules, a degree of load balancing, sharing of code common to several clients, encouragement of neatly modularized programs, and the elimination of an absolute division of eeort between client and server. In this paper we discuss the beneets, problems and issues of service rebalancing. Our implementation, Equanimity, is described in some detail. Finally, we compare service rebalancing with previous work and discuss future plans.

A Multi-commodity Pickup and Delivery Open-tour m-TSP Formulation for Bike Sharing Rebalancing Problem

Bike sharing systems (BSSs) offer a mobility service whereby public bikes, located at different stations across an urban area, are available for shared use. An important point is that the distribution of rides between stations is not uniformly distributed and certain stations fill up or empty over time. These empty and full stations lead to demand for bikes and return boxes that cannot be fulfi...

Service Rebalancing

Service rebalancing provides a way to determine an efficient division of effort between a client and its server. Decisions concerning this division of labor are made at runtime rather than at design time. Evaluating the current environment in which the client and server are executing and moving code between client and server based upon this evaluation can enhance the performance of client-serve...

An Analytical Approach for Single and Mixed-Model Assembly Line Rebalancing and Worker Assignment Problem

In this paper, an analytical approach is used for assembly line rebalancing and worker assignment for single and mixed-model assembly lines based on a heuristic-simulation algorithm. This approach helps to managers to select a better marketing strategy when different combinations of demands are suitable.Furthermore, they can use it as a guideline to know which worker assignment is better for ea...

Simulation Framework for Rebalancing of Autonomous Mobility on Demand Systems

We are observing a disruption in the urban transportation worldwide. The number of cities offering shared-use on-demand mobility services is increasing rapidly. They promise sustainable and affordable personal mobility without a burden of owning a vehicle. Despite growing popularity, on-demand services, such as carsharing, remain niche products due to small scale and rebalancing issues. We are ...

Telecommunications Competition, Rate-rebalancing, and Consumer Welfare in Nepal

This paper examines two important aspects of telecommunications liberalization as a policy for economic development. The first involves the tradeoff between increased efficiency from competition and the consequences of higher prices for basic services resulting from rate-rebalancing. The second addresses an entrant’s ability to provide efficient, high-quality service under the given competitive...
